 n- Using the command line\n- The ideas behind concepts like users\, files\
 , processes and permissions\n- Linux directory structure\n- Handling text 
 and other files from the console\n- The vim text editor\n- A brief introdu
 ction automating tasks with shell scripting\n\nTip: This course goes toget
 her well with our cluster introduction course\, and we have scheduled them
  in the same week.\n\nAlthough this course is open to everyone\, it is pri
 marily geared towards cluster users. That means that neither Graphical Use
 r Interfaces nor topics that require root access (e.g. installation\, admi
 nistration) are covered. All topics covered are distro-independent.\n\nThi
 s course will be held at least twice\, each time over two half-days.\n\nRe
 gistration happens via eCampus. The course may be held more than once\, de
 pending on presenter availability and number of registrations.\n\nIMPORTAN
 T: after registering\, you MUST JOIN ONE OF THE GROUPS.
