DESCRIPTION:Using version control systems is one of the most basic methods
  to ensure the quality of your (coding) work\, to organize cooperation wit
 h other developers\, and to transparently add new features and bug fixes t
 o existing projects. In this course\, we use one of the most prominent ver
 sion control systems (and the absolute standard in open source development
 )\, Git\, to introduce the basic concepts behind version control. Finally 
 we give an overview about the functionality of repository hosting services
  such as Bitbucket\, GitLab\, and GitHub.\n\nThe course is open to all stu
 dents and employees of Uni Bonn free of charge. Basic experience with the 
 Linux console is recommended (see our Linux tutorial). Bender access is no
 t necessary.\n\nRegistration happens via eCampus. Simply join this course 
 like any other eCampus course.\n\nThe maximum number of participants is 12
 . If more people register\, we will look into repeating the course.
